Reserved .NAME domains
There are certain domains reserved both on the second and third levels of the domain that cannot be used to register for .name domain name or email forwarding address . Please view list.

Anatomy of a Domain Name
Second Level Domains
None of the following second levels can be used for the second level domain in a domain name registration, the second level domain in an SLD (second level domain) registration, or the second level of a Defensive Registration:

1. Any two-letter combination (e.g. ab.name, ie.name, li.name, xi.name)
2. Any pure numbers or combinations of numbers and hyphens (e.g. 101.name, 534231.name, 523-12213.name)
3. Any labels with hyphens in the third and fourth character positions (e.g., "bq--1k2n4h4b")
4. The second levels listed below:

Third Level Domains
The following third level domain names are not available in the SRS, and can therefore not be used for:

(i)   the third level domain name in a domain name registration,
(ii)  the user name in an SLD e-mail registration, or
(iii) the third level of a Defensive Registration.

5.  http
6.  mail
7.  mx
8.  mx[followed by a number from 0 to 100]
9.  ns
10.ns[followed by a number from 0 to 100
11.wap
12.www
13.www[followed by a number from 0 to 100]

However, names having third-level labels that include any of the foregoing words and strings may be registered. The implication is that dr.smith.name will not be accepted whereas dirk.smith.name is permissible.
Absolute domain names
The following absolute domain name are not available for registration:

1. Jesus.Christ.name
2. Santa.Claus.name
